Yesterday was spent painting the fiddle yard and printing some crash barriers. The barriers where found on thingiverse as 28mm scale, so a slight rescale and their really good, painted in chrome effect paint, which they well be weathered down at a later pointIMG_2008.jpegIMG_2009.jpegi drawn and printed the tin building Wednesday and today Ive put it together , this is my largest print so far and with help from Jordan added more scenic base to exposed areas and currently figuring out the pavement slabs. I’ve for the time being drawn them on. Tonight I’ll be painting the curbs ready for tomorrom.IMG_2010.jpegIMG_2011.jpegIMG_2012.jpegon an amusing side when I drew up the tin building i did the side and front,I started drawing the roof, today I’ve realised i didn’t finish it nor printed it. hoping I’ve got time to get it sorted.

Telford went very well. The write up I did helped , almost every person who look at the layout was reading it.

I did manage to print the roof on the tin building but ran out of time to glue it all together so it was placed at the show and just before the show started I glued on the crash barriers.IMG_6696.jpegIMG_6689.jpegIMG_6693.jpegIMG_6680.jpeg

My new storage boxes where really good stock stayed together and it was much easier to find them, although some people used them as tables to put items on top.image.jpgand at the end of the show I found these a one of the traders, their corgi 1:64 lorries. Wrong time period and continent but useful and for only £15 why not.

The cabs, definitely wrong!! The tanker trailer, re-named might be ok, especially as the axles are set quite far back in American tradition. The curtainsider - unfortunately although invented in 1969, that was this side of The Pond; they weren't introduced to the American market until the 1990s, so won't fit your late 70s/early 80s Era.

I’ll do my usual method and cut it to suite

Yesterday i had my first try at adding lights. I’ve put differnt LEDs in the headlights and cab and added ground lights also. I’ve got the change the cvs for the cab and ground, as their hooked up to the default ditch lights so they flash when I start moving And bring the brightness down.

Little progress with the layout as family fun have been happening this month, but the diner might move across the board joint so the car park area is at the front And to cover the joint as well.

I had permission last month to move the layout into the front room after shifting some furniture

I’ve put in some more balsa wood for the diner and car park. I’ve also redone the ground cover with the scrap yard area having true scenic Barry ground coverIMG_2045.jpegIMG_2036.jpeg
around the track I’ve added fine ballast to break up the ground.
the yard has mix of true scenic fine ballast ground and tile grout, it very much improved the scene adding another layer of ground cover.IMG_2046.jpegIMG_2035.jpegIMG_2034.jpegi apologise for the poor quality photos i used the iPad and the lighting isn’t very good.
I also been enjoying operating the layout when I feel like it with short sessions just moving cars around blasting the horn (I turned the volume right down).

Wow didn’t realise it’s been that long since I updated,

the layout had returned to the loft few weeks after the last post, I’ve been planning out the buildings in cad and printing them out.B3B90546-796F-40CA-AC44-0AF3B26ED174.jpeg

The garage I’ve still haven’t drawn up the final version. I planning on dropping the curb all the way beyond the garage for the demolished and the warehouse as I’ve seen a couple of photos where the curb is dropped for a distance.

and here’s the biscuit factory a real sense of size to the layout, inspired by couple of similar factories. one idea I wanted to have was bricked up doors and shorten platform on the loading area as the transition to 50ft boxcars and hoppers came in.
