A 1980s CSE science examination question was 'Why are there three pins in a three pin plug?'

A pupil in the grammar school where I taught gave the following answer.

"One for watts, one for the volts, and one for the amps."

He subsequently went to Oxford University to read classics.

Probably the safest option, the ancient Greeks, etc, didn't have electricity!
