The brake van entered the paintshop tonight
all the vulnerable parts have been treated with metal black before priming. the body and chassis separate which has made priming the body much easier.
the chassis has also received a light preliminary coat of satin black......

I have a Slaters kit and a PRMRP 'Shark' break to do in the future ate some point. However all kit building is off until I get all my track down (or I get bored with that, whichever comes first). But at least i know where to look for inspiration,

Likewise Cynric, Sometimes it can be very sole destroying. I also find that if you leave the issue do something else and come back to it fresh after a few days/weeks it does'nt seem such of a problem more of a hinderance

I must admit I had a moment on the workbench a few months back doing something very simple... It just didn't work! I nearly threw stuff, and knew I had to walk away!
Came back the next day, and did it first time...
Time is a great healer :laugh:
It'll all work out right in the end! Either that or get Dan to make some for you...

You are all very bad men, this thread is only increasing my "itch" for another brake van and I have enough "itches" already.
Now I stop to think about it, I quite fancy one of the piped SR 25T vans in engineers olive livery. Tim Maddocks and I spent a very pleasant hour or so chatting to a ganger on the S&C at Kirkby Stephen next to one of these back in 1984, this was on one of our annual "Great Northern Trips" when the line had a magnificently doomed atmosphere.
That was the year of the "full grill" at the then Midland Hotel in Skipton, but I digress....
Doesn't really fit in with WR hydraulics though

This is a lousy shot but it is the only time I can remember actually seeing one of these vans in grey. This was snapped in the early 80s on an engineering train at Bath, I think it might have been in connection with the Westbury re-signalling project.

I started this MMP kit 18 months ago and its finally got the primer on today :shock: only another dozen or so needed :laugh:
What it does illustrate is the need for underframe detail with tank wagons, something that will need attention when it comes to the milk tanks
