These days theres not too much to larf out loud about but bowf posts cracked it for me.Nice one!!
I thought about "Ailsham "etc but got an attack of the Grammaticals.....or sumfin like.
And if "EYSIDE'S" vendors shouting out "ENID STANNIT !!" or even "ENID NOOOZ !!" 'im an 'iz papers are as lost as the loco!

Back to the loco building, the tender is almost complete. I managed to do most of the soldering from the inside, but the hopper had to be done from the top. We can't always do it how we would like. I any case, the tender will have coal in it and the real thing by 1962 would be pretty corroded. I used Griffin lamp irons, I always feel they are more robust than etched ones.

Isn't it just a case of twisting a handle at the right time, or are they coal burning again now?

At the rate they chuff up those hills JB - ah - but the pleasure of German beer to revive you afterwards!
Post track test, there is just a few tidying up jobs to do on the V2. Some work was required on the cartazzi to improve the amount of swing. Turning off the projecting bosses on the wheels in the lathe for one thing. So she will be off to Warren Heywood in January for painting.
And the tender, both won't fit on my mini studio!
For the New Year - the MOK Q1, I've been perusing the instructions and parts today...
Post track test, there is just a few tidying up jobs to do on the V2. Some work was required on the cartazzi to improve the amount of swing. Turning off the projecting bosses on the wheels in the lathe for one thing. So she will be off to Warren Heywood in January for painting.

Speaking of sound and exotic continental trains I fell down a rabbit hole the other night and found this video
I don't know exactly how steep this is but it's steep.

as are a lot more on Utube. The last minute on the full length one is pretty good too with a pair of 52's hitting another very steep bit.
I believe it's a yearly event over a whole weekend with different trains every hour....i'm already putting pennies in the piggy bank

Konigstein im Taunus, which is basically a outer region of Frankfurt to the Northwest and it looks to be on in May on a German bank holiday, this year the 15/16th.
It seems to be organised by these guys http://www.historische-eisenbahn-frankfurt.de/ but their timetable doesn't list it yet as far as I can see?

Mick, I think that this year they have decided to switch locations to run their May special over the Spessart Ramp. A new flatter route has been built by DB and the original, which is 5.4 km long with an average grade of 1 in 50, will be closed on June 17. So this is the last chance to go over a line where the Bavarian class 96 Mallet locomotives were used as bankers. Not bad value at Euro 39,-

Richard, yes I was reading that and was surprised at the cost, or more so the cheapness.
My German isn't good and Google is better but I didn't know they'd built a new line so was wondering why it was the last chance, I kind of guessed it was closing but didn't know why.
Hopefully next year they'll be back to the Konigstein branch, just gives me more time to save the pennies

The frames etch - just laying this out is a real treat:-
This one will have fully working inside motion, so I've got to stage with the frames just held by the tabs to work out how to graft in the Griffin motion. The first bit with the indirect linkage is there, using bits from the kit and Griffin. Next job is to get the crank axle to fit between the hornblocks.....

I got about as far as you have with your model and it's been stuck in a box for a couple of years (alongside a completed split-axle tender chassis). I couldn't find the correct pattern con rods from the trade and haven't yet got round to making the ones I need, so I'll be very interested to see how you go about it!
