Either way if you do get a new body for it can I have first dibs on the old one please? ;):D
Mark, you seem to be buying all my scrap :) If you send me your address I'll get those cabs off to you today or tomorrow.

I may actually keep this and commit livery crime to do COLAS RAIL!!! But that's all supposition, I wait to wait until next week to hear from Heljan...

Id say its paint residue looking at the last shot. i think the paint has melted rather than peeled. try a bit of modelstrip or fairy powerspray on the inside

Definitely will try the Fairy stuff, Guv. Will look in the supermarket at the weekend, or tonight if I'm sent out on an errand, which I usually am.

Looking at this, I'd say it's a prime candidate for a more aggressive chemical strip and then a full set of MMP detailing kits.

It could be an option Richard. Phill asked me that too and I forgot to reply. I'll have to see how far I'm going to take this and if I can get/need a spare body it will open up my options a bit. Definitely food for thought though and I'll put a call in to Mr P later next week.

I'm meant to be working but this (with my 47 body flirting with me on the table) and the live Tour is REALLY distracting!

Seeing as you've got it down to this state, you really ought to attempt to remedy the narrow gauge cab. The body is fine, it just tapers in far too much from about where the cab windows start. It's a lot of work but might be worth a go seeing as you may be getting another body :)

Cheers

I am still worried about the COLAS rail  , leave it as it is and run that!!!! it's better than that livery you are threatening to put it in:)).

Desecration of a good loco:))

If you can't find Fairy Powerspray, Cif or Sainsburys own brand oven cleaner ( in a green spray bottle) both work just as well. Suggest you wrap the body in a plastic bag to stop it drying out and leave over night.

Bill

Overruled! IF, and that's a big IF, I get a new body I'll keep some options open ;)

Good tip Bill, thanks. I'll have a look what the active ingredient is in Fairy and see if Tesco (it's nearer) has an equivalent.

Desecration of a good loco:))
But think of the fun I can have... An engineering train! Woohoo!

Phil, I have them but they are a mess. Some of them are glued into a messy block! The plan is to get spares but I I'll have to wait on availability. If not, I'll have to recover them somehow...

Steve,

just a thought , and you might have already done/thought of, soak the grills in warm water to try and soften the glue then try and pick it off with tweezers etc.;)
