As the sleepers are (hopefully) scale length in P4, or as near as damn it, I was able to work out where on the sleeper the holes needed drilling for the insulators. My Heath Robinson approach worked well and the system is perfectly aligned with the collector shoe beams of the EPB.
Thank you for the information, I do like the realistic appearance of the track and ancillaries. Still to add stretcher bars eh? Now that shall be worth seeing.

Heath Robinson, that great chronicler of the Great Western Railway (see out of print 1935 comic book)... ought to be an Honorary WTer, bodger supreme.

As a welcome thread we are doing quite nicely by normal WT standards... post no.#15 and no mention of....

I distracted them with (of all things) an armchair - surprisingly it seems to have worked........

Welcome Arthur Simon004007. Don't worry about old hat, some of us don't have time to work our way all around the web for pictures, so the more on WT the better. Also I for one have not followed any layouts / modelling other than what appears in magazines, so I and many others no doubt always enjoy the content appearing on here. All good stuff.

Many thanks Heather and Simon. I wasn't sure whether to start a layout thread or not on this forum, or just to be a viewer; so many people have seen these photos before on other forums that they might seem rather old hat.

Not at all Simon. More photo's the better please. Nice layout.

& welcome :D

Hi Simon,

welcome to the madhouse.

Great to see yet another Southern man here. No doubt there will be a Q1 lurking in the background somewhere - just for old times sake?

cheers

Mike

Many thanks Graham, Osgood, Steve and Mike; much appreciated. Nothing more gratifying than satisfied punters!

Post no.#27 and still no comment on.... the colour of the EMU? Rod must be watching another forum channel.

The check rail on the platform road is a nice touch.

regards, Graham

May I say welcome to this fine establishment and a great start it is too, In one post you have joined the ranks of the great and wonderful BLUE brigade here to defend the rights of all BLUE loco's including the A4's everywhere

Each time I look at the photos towards the end of the line I keep thinking...

- which track used to go through the level crossing gate?

- how much better might be the story if there was a track plan to interpret the photographs?

regards, Graham who is very impressed with the air of desolation...

So nice to see Simon and his amazing layout here. Although we haven't met, Simon's heartfelt honesty "over there" has always made his thread one of my true favourites. I now have the dilemma of do I turn off the updates to the threads over there, and hope everything appears over here?

Oh, and can we see some shots of your loverly new 73 too please :)

Evening Graham and Jon.

Graham, I have a very primitive track plan somewhere; the BR line used to carry on past the gate, but is now truncated with a small sand drag and former stop light. Behind the station the CEGB line does continue over the road but without a gate. The BR line came first followed by the industrial line. Jon, I will be posting some shots of the 73 sometime soon after I've weathered up the bogies (I will finish the construction of the chassis tomorrow... at long last!).

All the best
Simon

Excuse Mr Iploffy and his yellow-nose A4... if a whoopee cushion gag is funny the first time, it's funny every time....
