Paint roller.  ;D Before anyone starts foaming at the mouth that's what we used to paint the full size jobbies at York in the late seventies, most economical with the paint.

As to the colour, in an ideal world I would have two or three rakes in different liveries, but back in reality that isnt going to happen so they will most likely Maroon and Blue/Gray

why not do one side Maroon and the other Blue/Gray, 2 for the price of one. :

Because by the mid 60s, coach ends were no longer painted black. It is possible that a maroon coach would have maroon ends by say 1966*, depending on when it was repainted, but any coach in blue/grey would have blue ends, except for the gangway area and underframe.

*Certainly the early Mk 2 FO coaches in maroon had maroon ends.

BR stopped using black ends to make it easyer to spray paint, less masking out.
To get round this, i use alot of weathering on the ends for my old 4mm stock.

It is a pity though that they are not profiled on the rear faces as they really need to be in that scale.  I have a set of G1 Pemberton wagon wheels that are profiled on the rear AND have tapered axles [something else you would notice in G1].  I wish I had purchased more of the Pemberton wheels at the time in both 7mm & G1.  Its such a shame he packed in.

Agreed. I do have some plans to rectify the rear face and maybe the axle as well, if it wasnt so cost prohibitive I would have batch made up.

I saw him a few years ago in Manchester, I think it was the 'Flickering Flame' tour he did lots of his back  catalogue (solo & Floyd) & was on stage for more than two hours.............absolutely bloody awesome & one of my best ever gigs
